The Redemption Task Force could provide resources to the NOBTS community to combat the effects of sex addiction, which sadly is widespread in our culture. Secrecy forms an atmosphere in which addiction takes root and grows. We want to create a different atmosphere in our community, where men and women can find support, nurturing, and encouragement toward freedom and victory in their lives.
Toward that end, we are offering two resources; First, Conquer Groups are gender-specific small groups that meet at Leeke Magee Christian Counseling Center. The next sessions begin during the first week of June, and we want to invite our students to take advantage of the help they can find in these support groups; Second, we have scheduled a Pure Desire Conference for this fall on September 22-23. We hope to begin promoting this event before the end of the semester. This conference is essential not only to the strugglers but also to those who minister to them. Pure Desire Ministries is a nationally recognized organization with experience and resources both to help and to train.
We hope that our seminary family will recognize the seriousness of the epidemic of sex addiction in our culture and, by extension, in our own community. Please pray that God’s light will shine upon NOBTS so that many caught in the snares of addiction can BREAK THROUGH/BREAK FREE.
Grace and peace
